Carla B. Vendeland Memorial Scholarship
Newport High School parent Carla Vendeland created the PTSA Knight Valor Program in 1989, which recognizes Newport students who choose to spend their time making a difference in their community. Carla herself was an avid volunteer working tirelessly to support efforts to fight world hunger and the importance of education. She had an incredible gift of identifying people's strengths.
Carla B Vendeland passed away in 1994 after a long bout with cancer, and in 1996, the Carla B. Vendeland Scholarship was established in her memory and is now administered by the Bellevue Schools Foundation.
