Knight Valor Award

The Knight Valor Award is a Newport High School PTSA program recognizing students who have completed 100 or more community service hours above the 40 hours of community service required by Bellevue School District for graduation.
** Please note that due to COVID, the Class of 2023 requirement has been adjusted to 105 hours.
**NOTE: For the Class of 2024 and onwards, we are returning to the 140 hour requirement to earn the Knight Valor Award.

Community Service Guidelines
Guidelines regarding acceptable community service hours for the Knight Valor award is consistent with those of the Bellevue School District. Community service is any service that is done for schools, non-profit agencies and/or religious organizations. Recording Community Service Hours
Community service hours must be recorded, submitted and approved in Naviance. Students may reach out to Mrs. Aldridge in the counseling center for assistance before school or during lunch if assistance is needed when using Naviance.
Application Process
As of 2018, students are no longer required to ‘apply’ for the Knight Valor award. Seniors who have the required hours by May 19, 2023 will automatically be recognized unless the student specifically requests not to be recognized. Seniors will receive a certificate, a pin and will be recognized in the graduation brochure.

Deadline for Submission
All community service hours must be ‘approved’ by May 19, 2023. If community service hours are not entered into Naviance or if hours have been submitted to supervisors but have not been approved, those hours will not be considered by Newport PTSA. Thus, only approved hours will be considered.
